Our Welsh Dry Steam Coal is sourced from the open cast mine, Ffos y Fran near Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales. It is widely considered by heritage steam operators to be the best coal available as it has excellent steam raising properties and users have reported savings of up to 25% by weight compared to other coals.

MGC Engineering is able to offer a blend of coal sizes unique to us which is designed for use in traction engines and railway engines (basically it has larger lumps than the standard 'large nut'). This blend is so popular that some of our repeat customers demand this mix and will not touch the standard grades offered by other suppliers of this coal. The standard grades can also be supplied if that is what you require.

We supply in 25kg bags or bulk bags. Any amount from 25kg to 20 tons can be supplied.

Where possible deliveries will be by ourselves but if this is not viable it will be delivered by palletised delivery. Our normal pallet service will give you a guaranteed specified weekday PM delivery slot. AM, 1 hour slot, weekend and economy delivery is also available. If you wish to take delivery by pallet, please consider your means of off-loading. If you have an unusual delivery requirement such as 3 tons at 3am in the middle of a field, give us a call, this has been done!

Our aim is to be the cheapest supplier of Welsh Dry Steam Coal. If you have a genuine quote that is less than ours, please call us and give us the opportunity to beat it on a like for like basis.
